Beyoncé named the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard

She sets the standard!

Beyoncé has recently earned another prestigious title, being crowned the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard.

Billboard, which has been slowly revealing its rankings, announced on Tuesday that Queen Bey has taken the No. 1 position in its list of the top 25 pop stars.

According to Billboard, “Since late August, we’ve been unveiling our choices for the artists who have most defined pop stardom over the past 25 years.” They highlighted the reasons for Beyoncé’s top ranking as “numerous,” citing her 25 years of exceptional albums and singles, her vast impact and influence in the industry, and her unmatched talent as a singer and performer.

However, Billboard emphasized that above all, her unique talent for creating memorable moments has made a significant mark—moments that embody pop culture history and are unmistakably Beyoncé.

Previously, she was awarded Billboard’s title of greatest pop star of the year in both 2003 and 2014.

Beyoncé surpassed other huge stars, including Taylor Swift in second place, Rihanna in third, Drake in fourth, Lady Gaga in fifth, and Britney Spears in sixth. Her husband Jay-Z was ranked No. 16.

With a record 32 Grammy wins, Beyoncé continues to set records and recently broke the all-time nomination record by receiving 11 nods for her acclaimed album, “Cowboy Carter.” She now has 99 nominations throughout her career, previously tied with her husband at 88.

Beyoncé rose to worldwide fame in the late ’90s as a member of Destiny’s Child, one of the best-selling girl groups globally. She released her first solo album, “Dangerously in Love,” in 2003 during the group’s hiatus, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 and was followed by seven more albums reaching the same height, marking her impactful journey in music and culture.

She has become one of the all-time best-selling artists, accumulating a remarkable collection of awards. Many outlets named her artist of the decade in the 2000s and 2010s, and the Recording Industry Association of America recognized her as the top-certified artist of the 2010s. Her influence extends across various domains, including music, culture, and fashion.

This year, Beyoncé revealed her eighth studio album in an unexpected Super Bowl commercial in February, introducing the singles “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which quickly gained viral popularity, as did the album upon release.

She has so far shattered records and made history with “Cowboy Carter,” which has spotlighted Black country artists and the lineage of the genre.
