Are Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp down? Thousands report outages with Meta apps on Wednesday
On Wednesday afternoon, Meta-owned apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Threads faced numerous issues, causing users to report error messages online.
Downdetector, which tracks outages, indicated a significant surge in reports for Instagram, with around 70,000 users indicating problems, and Facebook had over 100,000. Reports peaked around 1:10 p.m. ET before starting to decline.
Additionally, WhatsApp, another of Meta’s platforms, experienced a similar increase in outage reports, which also seemed to affect Facebook Messenger. YSL News staff reported that some users encountered blank home screens on Instagram for over three minutes.
Meta acknowledged these issues in posts on X, assuring that they are aware of the challenges some users face when trying to access their apps.
“We’re doing our best to restore normal operations quickly and apologize for any trouble this may have caused,” stated Meta.
Meta has not yet responded to a request for comment from YSL News.
