The “Django Unchained” actor has launched a new Netflix special called “What Had Happened Was” marking his comeback to the stage after a health scare that saw him hospitalized last year.
This hour-long show combines heartfelt reflections with humor. As Foxx put it, “If I can stay funny, I can stay alive.”
Foxx initially kept the details of his hospitalization under wraps but shared during the special that he had been in a coma due to a stroke.
“I lost everything, but I clung to my sense of humor,” the actor shared. “I struggled to walk and talk, but I never let go of what makes me funny.”

Incident during Jamie Foxx’s birthday dinner led to another hospital visit
Foxx’s representatives confirmed to YSL News that he was injured when a glass was thrown from another table at Mr. Chow, a popular restaurant in Beverly Hills.
He required stitches and is currently recovering. In an Instagram post, Foxx addressed the incident, expressing gratitude to his supporters and stating, “Can’t win her Thank you to everyone who prays and checks on me. When your light shines brightly they try to bring you darkness, but they don’t realize you’re built for it.”
