Gracie Abrams Reflects on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Conclusion: ‘I’m Feeling Emotional’

Gracie Abrams is also feeling the heartache from the conclusion of the Eras Tour.

Abrams, who served as the opening act for Taylor Swift on 49 dates of her unprecedented Eras Tour, shared insights about what she discovered regarding fame in pop music during this experience.

“I’m experiencing a mixture of emotions—feeling grateful and shocked that we can no longer collectively enjoy that extraordinary experience,” Abrams expressed in a recent interview with Nylon, released on Tuesday.

Like many other fans, she turned to Instagram to enjoy clips from performances she couldn’t attend, sharing this with the publication.

The Eras Tour, which included 149 shows and numerous surprise performances, concluded earlier this month in Vancouver, Canada, where Abrams was also featured.

“There was a pervasive sense of sadness all day. It felt akin to the last day of school backstage,” she reflected in her discussion with Nylon. “Everyone was going around with their tour books, getting each other’s signatures.”

Once an emerging talent, the 25-year-old has now established herself as a pop icon—her breakup anthem “That’s So True” has rapidly climbed the charts recently.

Both her audience and that of Swift’s are more intertwined than separate; both artists draw from personal heartbreak to create emotionally driven pop music. Their songs resonate deeply with listeners, tapping into the complexities and messy emotions tied to love.

Abrams collaborated with Aaron Dressner, the musician and producer who played a significant role in Swift’s acclaimed albums “Evermore” and “Folklore.”

Abrams’ swift ascent in the music scene is greatly attributed to her viral melodies and her connection to Swift. Like Shawn Mendes and Sabrina Carpenter, she is a product of what can be likened to the “Taylor Swift School of Career Advancement.”

As concertgoers encountered Abrams’ new tracks like “Risk” and “Close to You,” her transformation from an indie musician to a prominent star became apparent swiftly.

“I absorbed every moment of her performance,” Abrams shared with Nylon. “I’ve been learning from her for the past year and a half. Each time I opened for her, I observed and gained insights. I even learn from our casual chats about the weather.”
