Lil Wayne’s Thoughts on Kendrick Lamar and Super Bowl Controversy: ‘You Better Go All Out’

In the wake of the debate surrounding the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, there seems to be no tension between Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar.

Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, has openly expressed his disappointment about not being included in the lineup for Super Bowl LIX, taking place in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. He noted that the decision “hurt him.”

“To me, that spot, that stage, that platform, in my city, was unmatched. So it really hurt,” Wayne shared during an Instagram Live session.

However, during a recent guest appearance on “The Skip Bayless Show,” the “Lollipop” artist sought to clarify any misunderstandings.

“I reached out to him and wished him all the best, telling him he really needs to crush it,” Wayne commented regarding his exchange with Lamar, reinforcing, “You better go all out. You’ve got to bring the heat.”

Kendrick Lamar Set to Lead Super Bowl Halftime Show

The NFL confirmed that Kendrick Lamar from Compton, California will headline the eagerly awaited show in September. This decision sparked significant discussion online regarding whether Lamar was the right choice over Wayne.

Lamar’s performance follows a highly successful 2024, marked by a surprise album release, a tour announcement, a win against Drake in a popular music feud, several hit diss tracks, and numerous award nominations.

His album GNX was celebrated by Billboard as the top entry in their “20 Best Rap Albums of 2024” list.

Lil Wayne Talks About Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Wacced Out Murals’ Lyrics

During the show, Bayless inquired if Wayne had discussed with Kendrick the mention of his name in Lamar’s recent album, “GNX.”

In the introductory track, “wacced out murals,” Lamar raps: “I used to jam ‘Tha Carter III,’ showing off my Rollie chain/ Ironically, my efforts made Lil Wayne feel let down.”

Wayne acknowledged that it was his first time hearing those lyrics but asserted that Lamar had no obligation to explain himself.

“I think he just implies that. his hard work is what got him to where he is, and the ‘let me down’ part refers to my personal disappointment,” Wayne explained.
