Pixar’s ‘Win or Lose’ Drops Transgender Plotline Amid Controversy

Disney removes transgender plot from Pixar’s first TV series ‘Win or Lose’: Reports

Reports indicate that Pixar Animation Studios has eliminated a storyline focusing on a transgender character’s gender identity from its inaugural television series.

The upcoming long-format series “Win or Lose” will still include a transgender character, but creators have decided to erase any dialogue relating to their gender identity, as reported by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. These outlets noted that only a few lines from the eight-episode series have been removed.

“For animated content aimed at a younger audience, we understand that many parents would like to discuss certain topics with their children at their own pace,” a Disney representative stated to Variety and THR.

YSL News has contacted Disney, the parent company of Pixar, for further comments.

What is ‘Win or Lose’?

“Win or Lose” marks Pixar’s debut in long-form television, set to launch next year.

This eight-episode series will depict a co-ed middle school softball team as they prepare for a championship match.

The series narrative confirms that each episode will spotlight a different character, showcasing various situations including insecure players, overprotective parents, or a “lovesick umpire,” all building up to the significant game.

Will Forte, known for “Saturday Night Live,” will lend his voice to the team’s coach in this series developed by Carrie Hobson, a story artist from “Elemental,” and Michael Yates, a story artist from “Soul.”
