Christina Aguilera Celebrates Birthday with Bold Tribute to ‘Burlesque’

Christina Aguilera is taking the phrase “birthday suit” quite seriously this year.

The singer shared some nude photos on Instagram to mark her 44th birthday. Paying homage to her film “Burlesque,” the striking black-and-white image shows Aguilera with a similar short blonde haircut as in the movie. She captioned the post, “Birthday Suit #44.”

In “Burlesque,” Aguilera’s character is a determined singer trying to break into the Los Angeles music scene. After unexpectedly finding herself in a burlesque club run by Sean (played by Stanley Tucci) and Tess (Cher), she becomes the star of the show, performing in outfits reminiscent of her latest Instagram post.

The pop superstar is well-known for promoting body positivity. After facing relentless scrutiny throughout her career, she has become a vocal advocate against unrealistic beauty ideals.

In 2022, Aguilera released a new version of her iconic song “Beautiful.” The music video featured an updated message addressing the impact of social media on body image, particularly highlighting research linking social media use to body dissatisfaction and mental health issues among young people. “This needs to change,” she emphasized.

As she steps into her 44th year, Aguilera is also marking the 25th anniversary of her debut album, which is set for several performances in Brazil and the UAE this upcoming February.

The 1999 album included hits such as “Genie in a Bottle” and “What a Girl Wants,” skyrocketing Aguilera to fame.

“I was thrilled to have signed my record deal and to be creating an album at all,” Aguilera shared with fellow pop star Sabrina Carpenter in a performance video commemorating the album’s 25th anniversary. “If it were up to me, I probably would have included more ballads or something similar.”

Aguilera noted that the song “Reflection,” also featured in the Disney animated film “Mulan,” has had the most enduring impact: “It’s all about feeling unseen, and that’s been a huge part of my career,” she explained to Carpenter.
