Baltimore Ravens Part Ways with WR Diontae Johnson Following Four Games and Suspension

Diontae Johnson no longer with the Baltimore Ravens after four games and a suspension

The brief stint of Diontae Johnson with the Baltimore Ravens has come to an end after just four games, one catch, and a suspension due to what the team described as his refusal to participate in a game.

This morning, the Ravens decided to release the sixth-year wide receiver and activated Anthony Miller from the practice squad to fill his position.

The Ravens had acquired Johnson from the Carolina Panthers on October 29, trading a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in exchange for him and a sixth-round pick.

Johnson faced a suspension for the team’s Week 15 game against the New York Giants due to conduct deemed harmful to the team.

“We made the tough call to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants because of conduct detrimental to the team,” said Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta in a statement. “The suspension arose from his refusal to join our game against the Philadelphia Eagles.”

Given that Johnson has more than four seasons in the NFL, he is now officially released and can sign with another team immediately without having to go through waivers.

Johnson earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 while playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Panthers acquired him during the offseason, offering cornerback Donte Jackson and a sixth-round pick to the Steelers as part of the deal.

Throughout the current season, Johnson has played in 11 games (with eight starts), accumulating 31 catches for 363 yards and three touchdowns on 63 targets.
