Transformation of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets into Aldi
As previously reported by YSL News, the initiative to open 800 new Aldi locations by 2028 will involve both new stores and conversions from existing ones.
In August 2023, Aldi announced the acquisition of around 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets located in the Southeastern U.S.
The supermarket chain indicated in March that it anticipates about 50 former Winn-Dixie and Harveys locations will undergo renovations starting in the latter half of 2024, with the majority expected to reopen as Aldi stores in 2025.
Once all new locations are operational, Aldi aims to operate around 3,200 stores across the country.
