Will the stock market be open on New Year’s Day 2025? Check the holiday schedule
The U.S. stock exchanges will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.
Both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange will not operate on this holiday, but they will conduct regular trading on December 31, 2024.
The U.S. bond markets will have an early close on Tuesday, December 31, wrapping up trading by 2 p.m. ET, and will also be shut on New Year’s Day, as stated by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
Trading will resume on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
The next planned market closure will be on Thursday, January 9, 2025, to honor a national day of mourning for the passing of former President Jimmy Carter.
