Joe Alwyn Embraces New Beginnings After Taylor Swift Split: ‘It’s Time for Everyone to Move On’

Joe Alwyn has moved on from Taylor Swift breakup, says others should too: ‘What I feel’

Joe Alwyn wants to share his thoughts with anyone who is still focused on his past relationship with Taylor Swift – he has moved on, and he believes others should do the same.

The star of “Conversations with Friends” was in a relationship with Swift for six and a half years, reportedly meeting for the first time at the Met Gala in 2016 in New York City. They kept their romance private and decided to part ways shortly after Swift began her Eras tour in April 2023.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Alwyn responded to the idea that he needed to move on from the relationship, stating he has already done so.

“That’s for other people to deal with,” he remarked to the British publication. “We’re discussing something that happened a while ago in my life. So that’s up to others. That’s my feeling.”

Swift, likewise, has also moved on. She has been in a relationship with Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, since late 2023. Their connection was first noted in September 2023, and they shared a famous kiss at the Super Bowl in early 2024. Kelce has even joined Swift during her record-breaking Eras tour.

Alwyn reflects on what kept him ‘tethered’ after their split

Even prior to their separation, fans took a close look at various songs that might hint at Alwyn, such as “London Boy” and “Lover.” He also contributed to five songs with Swift under the pseudonym “William Bowery” in her “Folklore” and “Evermore” albums.

In the June interview, Alwyn acknowledged that he had come to terms with the fact that “there will always be a disparity between what’s known and what’s said.”

“You find something very genuine suddenly thrust into an unrealistic world: tabloids, social media, the press, where it’s then analyzed, speculated on, and distorted beyond recognition,” he told The Sunday Times.

He encouraged fans to understand the complicated emotions involved in ending a “long, loving, fully committed relationship.”

“That’s a tough situation to navigate,” he expressed. “What is particularly strange about this scenario is that, just one week later, it becomes public knowledge, and suddenly everyone outside gets to weigh in.”

Currently promoting his new film “The Brutalist” with The Guardian, Alwyn shared that his family and friends have been crucial in keeping him grounded during challenging times in his career and personal life.

“I have focused on managing what I can control,” he stated. “From the start, I have made it a priority to concentrate on things that truly matter to me: my friends, family, and of course, my work. The external noise, I believe, is something a lot of people in the public eye try to ignore. If you don’t, and allow that outside influence to affect you and your actions, then you’re essentially living from the outside in.”
