While patiently awaiting the arrival of his new baby, Patrick Mahomes kept an eye on the NFL playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his wife Brittany celebrated the birth of their third child, a daughter named Golden Raye Mahomes, on Sunday. She joins their two other children: three-year-old Sterling Skye and two-year-old Patrick Lavon III, affectionately called “Bronze.”

The timing of their baby’s arrival was ideal, as Mahomes’ Chiefs clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC, enjoying a break during Wild Card Weekend before entering the divisional round of the playoffs. This was exactly what the couple had wished for.

As they anticipated Golden Raye’s arrival, Mahomes was fortunate enough to catch some playoff action, thanks to his supportive wife, who allowed him to watch during her labor.

“It was nice to have football on TV at the hospital, so I got to enjoy some of the game,” Mahomes noted on Tuesday. “Brittany was generous enough to let me watch football while she was preparing to give birth to our second daughter.”

Mahomes praised his wife for her strength during childbirth and also shared his excitement about welcoming their newest family member.

“It’s been wonderful to welcome another baby girl into our family and to see how my other kids react to having a baby sister. It’s really been a lot of fun,” he added.

With his third child now here and having taken two weeks off — including sitting out the regular season finale against the Denver Broncos — Mahomes is now focused on leading Kansas City to achieve a historic three-peat in the Super Bowl era. The Chiefs are set to face the Houston Texans in the divisional round this Saturday.
