Star-Studded Inductees Set to Shine in the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame

Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, and Michael Vick to Lead the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class

The College Football Hall of Fame is set to welcome nearly 22 new members, featuring some of the most renowned figures in college football history.

Among the notable inductees are legendary coaches Nick Saban and Urban Meyer, along with former Virginia Tech quarterback and first overall NFL draft selection Michael Vick. This group of 22 will be officially inducted into the Atlanta-based Hall on December 9 during a ceremony in Las Vegas.

Other prominent inductees include Michael Strahan, an All-Pro defensive lineman from Texas Southern who is now a well-known broadcaster; former West Virginia running back Steve Slaton, who formed a memorable duo with quarterback Pat White; Montee Ball from Wisconsin, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2011; and Haloti Ngata, a five-time Pro Bowler during his time at Oregon.

Saban’s induction follows his retirement from Alabama just a year ago, where he led the Crimson Tide to six national championships over 17 seasons. Previously, he coached at Toledo, Michigan State, and LSU, where he won a national title in 2003.

Now serving as a college football analyst for ESPN, Saban was informed about his induction by his colleagues from “College GameDay” right before Ohio State faced Texas in the Cotton Bowl last Friday.

Meyer, who was Saban’s competitive rival in the SEC, guided Florida to national championships in 2006 and 2008, and later secured a title at Ohio State in 2014. Having not coached in college since 2018, Meyer boasts a career record of 187-32 and is one of only 14 coaches in FBS history to have at least three national championships.

Before transforming the quarterback role in the NFL, Vick led Virginia Tech to its first and only national championship game as a redshirt freshman in 1999, finishing third in the Heisman voting that year. Despite a past involvement in a dog-fighting scandal that resulted in 21 months in prison, Vick was appointed as the head coach at Norfolk State in December.

The Hall of Fame rules stipulate that coaches become eligible for induction three seasons post-retirement or immediately upon retirement if they are 70 or older. At 73, Saban retired just two days after the announcement of the 2024 Hall of Fame class.

For players to qualify for induction, they must be at least 10 years out from their last college game and have received All-America recognition from an NCAA-approved selector.
