Nintendo unveils the next-generation Switch 2 in teaser video
Nintendo has teased the next version of its Switch console on Thursday morning.
In the teaser video, viewers got a sneak peek at the new console, known as Switch 2. While it shares some similarities with the original Switch, the Switch 2 looks larger and features a new kickstand along with a smoother, more rounded design. The updated Joy-Cons remain detachable, allowing for both docked and portable gaming experiences.
The upcoming console will boast exclusive titles, available in both physical and digital formats, and maintain compatibility with games from the original Switch.
Although a specific launch date for the Switch 2 hasn’t been confirmed, Nintendo has indicated that it will be released in 2025.
More information is expected to be revealed during the Switch 2-centric Direct presentation scheduled for April 2.
The original Nintendo Switch, which debuted in 2017, remains one of the best-selling gaming consoles worldwide, with over 143 million units sold by October 2024.
