Tyra Banks shares her LA home was lost in wildfires: ‘It’s challenging’
Tyra Banks has disclosed that her residence in Los Angeles was consumed by the devastating California wildfires.
The star of “America’s Next Top Model” appeared on the Australian morning program “Sunrise” on Monday, where she candidly talked about the tragedy.
While discussing her ice cream venture, Smize & Dream, as she gets ready to open a location in Sydney, the topic shifted to the wildfires in Los Angeles.
“I haven’t really discussed it much, but yes, it’s true,” Banks noted. “I didn’t want to draw too much attention to myself because I know others also need it, so I’ve kept quiet. But I can’t lie about it; we lost our house.”
YSL News has reached out to Banks’ agent for further comment.
At 51, Banks is among numerous celebrities who have suffered losses due to the Los Angeles wildfires, including Heidi Montag, Mel Gibson, Joshua Jackson, and Paris Hilton, among others.
The model and television personality mentioned that she and her partner, Louis Bélanger-Martin, were at a friend’s place in Australia when they learned about their loss.
“We were having a good time celebrating. I kept checking my phone, not really for my house, but to ensure friends and family were evacuating safely,” she explained.
Once the couple found out their home had perished in the fire, Banks remarked that she “held it together” and didn’t express her feelings to her friends at that moment.
“I just stayed present in that moment, and later we went home and allowed ourselves to grieve,” she shared.
Although she lost some precious keepsakes, she is thankful that her most cherished items are safe at her homes in Australia and New York.
“So I didn’t lose those, thankfully,” she said. “But it’s indeed tough.”
