College football championship odds: Who’s the favorite for the CFP title in 2025?

The college football season of 2024 concluded on Monday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where Ohio State secured their first national championship in ten years by defeating Notre Dame.

So, who will emerge victorious as of next January?

Immediately after their ninth national championship win, oddsmakers, including those at BetMGM, have chosen Ryan Day and the Buckeyes to potentially repeat their success as champions.

Similar to this past season, Ohio State is predicted to have one of the strongest lineups in the nation next year, highlighted by standout receiver Jeremiah Smith. The 6-foot-3 athlete, who cannot enter the NFL draft for another two years, had an impressive performance, totaling five receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown in Ohio State’s triumph on Monday.

Trailing Ohio State are two formidable SEC teams: Texas and Georgia. The Longhorns concluded their 2024 season with a 13-3 record and reached the Cotton Bowl, where they faced Ohio State. The Bulldogs, after securing one of the four first-round byes, faced a swift exit from the CFP by losing to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl quarterfinals.

Both Texas and Georgia will head into the 2025 season with new starting quarterbacks, Arch Manning and Gunner Stockton, respectively.
