The future of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford in the NFL is in question after the team’s 28-22 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC divisional round.

Kelly Stafford revealed on “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford & Hank” podcast that her husband has been playing with four cracked ribs “for a while.”

According to her, the injury had been bothering him for more than a month, stemming from a hit he took on Dec. 12 during a game against the San Francisco 49ers.

The rib issue flared up again during the game in Philadelphia.

“He aggravated his rib early,” Rams coach Sean McVay informed reporters after the game. “He got hurt again, but he is a warrior. He’s incredibly tough.”

In the game against the Eagles, Stafford was 26 for 44 in pass attempts, throwing for 324 yards and two touchdowns, though he was also sacked five times.

“I’ve been managing those kinds of issues for a bit, but they flared up again. I was able to calm it down,” Stafford commented after the game. “I didn’t feel it had much of an impact. It seemed like I threw the ball well.”
