Dolly Parton’s beloved theme park in Pigeon Forge is marking its 40th season this year. The park is set to introduce new performances, delicious food, and plenty of enjoyable activities, along with some nostalgic favorites for long-time visitors.
“I can’t believe we’ve been crafting memories for everyone here at Dollywood for four decades,” Parton remarked in a statement. “That’s an incredible amount of laughter, hugs, and smiles, and I’m thrilled we’ve been part of it all these years.”
Dollywood shared with Knox News in January that more details on its 40th anniversary celebration will come soon, but let’s discuss when visitors can start enjoying the festivities.
When Does Dollywood Open in 2025?
The 40th season of Dollywood commences on March 14 with a special preview for season passholders. Additionally, the I Will Always Love You Music Festival, showcasing songwriters, will kick off that same day.
The park will open its doors to all visitors starting March 15.
What to Anticipate During Dollywood’s 40th Season
Dollywood will celebrate this milestone anniversary with unique moments and surprises spread throughout the year, particularly during its seasonal festivals.
Here’s what’s in store for the theme park’s anniversary celebrations:
- Each operating day in 2025 will start with a new opening ceremony.
- A special 40th anniversary show will feature highlights from the park’s most beloved performances, debuting on Memorial Day weekend and running until the end of summer.
- A new drone and fireworks display will honor the 40th anniversary at Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Summer Celebration.
- The film “Heartsong: The Movie” will be revamped and relocated to Dreamsong Theater as part of The Dolly Parton Experience to commemorate the anniversary, running alongside “Heidi Parton’s Kin & Friends.”
- The Country Fair area will receive an exciting makeover during the 2025 season.
When Is Dollywood Open?
Dollywood operates from mid-March until early January. However, the park’s management has shown interest in extending the operating season for even more family enjoyment.
“Behind the scenes, a significant part of my role is to develop the long-term plan that will enhance our overall experiences,” Dollywood President Eugene Naughton told Knox News last year. “I am keen on progressing towards making Dollywood a year-round destination.”
For its 40th season, Dollywood will have a total of 273 operating days, as per the posted schedule. This is eight days shorter than last year, which was the park’s longest season with a record of 281 operating days.
