Over 500,000 Vehicles Recalled: Check If Your Car Is Affected
Last week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced several recalls, including notices for over 270,000 Ford Broncos and Mavericks due to a potential battery problem.

Here’s a summary of the vehicle recalls released by NHTSA from January 20 to January 26.
Ford Recalls Broncos and Mavericks
Ford is recalling certain 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick models because the 12-volt batteries from Chinese company Camel Battery might degrade while the vehicle is in motion.
“The (12-volt) battery could suffer from internal welds or cast-on-strap failures, potentially leading to sudden degradation while driving,” the recall notice states. “If the battery fails unexpectedly during operation, it could prevent the vehicle from restarting after an auto stop/start event or cause stalling when coming to a stop at low speed.”
Dealers will inspect the 12-volt batteries and replace them at no cost if necessary. Owners will receive notification letters by February 3, 2025.

Ford Addresses Shock Absorber Issue in Broncos
Ford is also recalling certain 2021-2024 Bronco models due to rear shock absorbers that might corrode and detach, posing a road safety risk.
The affected components were first included in production on September 23, 2020, and will be taken out of production on July 23, 2024.
A fix is currently being developed. Interim letters informing owners about the safety issue are expected to be sent out on February 3, and final letters will be dispatched once a solution is available.

Kia Recalls Hybrids for Airbag Malfunction
Kia is recalling specific 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid vehicles due to damaged wiring which might prevent airbags from deploying correctly.
The affected vehicles come with a manually operated passenger seat that could damage wiring beneath the seat through repeated adjustments.
This issue may result in:
- Airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners failing to deploy
- An inability to deactivate the passenger frontal airbag for a small child or occupant
- Unintended activation of the passenger side airbag
Dealers will inspect, replace, and reroute the floor wiring assembly as needed, free of charge. Owners can expect notification letters to be mailed on March 14, 2025.

Land Rover Recalls Due to Rearview Camera Issue
Land Rover is recalling some 2023 Discovery Sport, 2023-2024 Defender, and 2023 Range Rover Evoque vehicles because of a potential touchscreen malfunction that may prevent the rearview camera from functioning.
According to NHTSA, the touchscreen in the center console might go blank upon starting the vehicle, which prevents the rearview camera image from displaying correctly. This malfunction leads to noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Dealers will be upgrading the touchscreen software at no cost. Owners are expected to receive notification letters by March 14.

Jaguar Expands Recall for Rearview Camera Issues
Jaguar has expanded a recall for 2019-2020 Jaguar XEs due to wires potentially being damaged in the trunk, which can affect the rearview camera’s functionality.
The cars were assembled at the Castle Bromwich Vehicle Assembly Plant between June 18, 2018, and September 10, 2020, as stated in the recall notice.
Dealers will inspect and either repair or replace the rearview camera wiring harness free of charge. Owners will receive notification by March 14.
