Over 500,000 Cars Recalled, Including Ford, Kia, and Jaguar: Find Out About Car Recalls Here

Last week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced several vehicle recalls, including over 270,000 Ford Bronco and Maverick models due to potential battery issues.

Want to find out if your vehicle is involved in any recalls? If it’s not listed here, vehicle owners can check YSL News’s automotive recall database or search NHTSA’s database for the latest updates. On the NHTSA website, you can look for recalls using your vehicle identification number (VIN).

Here’s what you should know about the recalls issued by NHTSA from January 20 to January 26.

Ford Recalls Broncos and Mavericks

Ford is recalling select 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles because the 12-volt batteries from the Chinese manufacturer Camel Battery may degrade while being driven.

According to the recall report, “The (12-volt) battery may experience internal welds or cast-on-strap failures, which could cause sudden degradation of the battery while driving.” If this occurs, it may prevent the vehicle from restarting after an automatic stop or cause it to stall while slowing down.

Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the 12-volt battery at no cost. Owners will receive notification letters expected to be sent out on February 3, 2025.

Vehicles affected: 272,817

Ford Recalls Broncos Due to Shock Absorber Problem

Additionally, Ford is recalling certain 2021-2024 Bronco vehicles due to potential corrosion in the rear shock absorbers. This could lead to a failure, creating a potential hazard on the road.

The affected component began production on September 23, 2020, and was discontinued on July 23, 2024.

A solution is currently in development. Interim notification letters about the safety issue will be sent to owners on February 3. Final letters will be dispatched once a remedy is available.

Kia Recalls Hybrids Due to Airbag Concerns

Kia is recalling specific 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid vehicles over concerns that damaged wiring may hinder proper airbag deployment.

These vehicles have a manually operated passenger seat, and the recall suggests that repeated adjustments can damage the wires below the seat.

This wiring damage could lead to several issues, including:

  • Non-deployment of airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners
  • Inability to deactivate the passenger frontal airbag for a child or small occupant
  • Unintentional deployment of the passenger side airbag

Dealers will inspect, replace, and reroute the floor wiring assembly as needed at no cost. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on March 14, 2025.

Vehicles affected: 80,255

Land Rover Recalls Due to Rearview Camera Issues

Land Rover is recalling some 2023 Discovery Sport, 2023-2024 Defender, and 2023 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. A potential issue with the touchscreen could lead to drivers not being able to view their rearview camera.

The NHTSA indicates that in the recalled vehicles, the central console touchscreen may go blank when starting the vehicle, which would prevent the rearview camera image from appearing, thus causing the vehicles to be non-compliant with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

Dealers will provide a free update for the touchscreen software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed out on March 14.

Vehicles affected: 28,370

Jaguar Expands Recall on XEs for Camera Issues

Jaguar has extended a recall for the 2019-2020 XE models, as there may be damaged wiring in the trunk that affects the operation of the rearview camera.

These vehicles were manufactured at the Castle Bromwich Vehicle Assembly Plant between June 18, 2018, and September 10, 2020, per the recall report.

Dealers will check and, if necessary, repair or replace the rearview camera wiring harness at no charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be distributed on March 14.
