Official Portrait of Melania Trump: White House Reveals First Lady’s Photo
The White House has unveiled an official portrait of Melania Trump, just one week after her spouse, President Donald Trump, took his oath of office.
The former fashion model was captured in a photograph by Belgian photographer RĂ©gine Mahaux in the Yellow Oval Room, one of three oval-shaped rooms located on the White House’s second floor, on January 21. This date is significant as it is one day prior to the couple’s 20th wedding anniversary and the day following the Inauguration.
Recently, Trump along with Vice President JD Vance also shared their official portraits a few days before the formal presidential transition occurred.
At 54 years old, Melania returned to the White House with her family on the inauguration of her husband’s second term. She stands out as the second first lady born outside the U.S. and the first to gain U.S. citizenship through naturalization, as highlighted by the White House.
While it remains uncertain what initiatives or charitable projects Melania will undertake during her husband’s second term, she has previously concentrated on various issues impacting children nationwide. Additionally, she has always shown a strong commitment to the military and their families.
Below is a glimpse of Melania Trump’s portrait along with significant details about the first lady.
Who is Melania Trump?
Before taking on the role of first lady, now for the second time, Melania Trump was known as a model and a businesswoman.
Melania, whose birth name is Melanija Knavs, hails from Slovenia, which was once part of Yugoslavia. She began her modeling career at the age of 16 and moved to New York City at 26. In January 2005, she married Donald Trump and welcomed their son, Barron, a year later.
Beyond her roles as a wife and mother, the first lady has made significant contributions through her charitable work with organizations such as the American Red Cross and the Police Athletic League. As noted by the White House, she has served as chairwoman for both the American Heart Association and the Martha Graham Dance Company, as well as the Boys’ Club of New York.
Additionally, Melania Trump launched her own line of jewelry and accessories, published a memoir, and will be featured in an upcoming documentary set to debut on Prime Video and in theaters later this year. During her time away from the White House, she also created a scholarship fund aimed at helping youth transition out of the foster care system.
