Rihanna Shows Up for A$AP Rocky in Court During Shooting Trial: Latest Updates

Rihanna attends court to support A$AP Rocky during shooting trial, reports say

On Wednesday, Rihanna made her first court appearance to show support for her partner and the father of her children, A$AP Rocky.

As reported by The Associated Press, The Los Angeles Times, and People magazine, the renowned singer, beauty entrepreneur, and billionaire surprised fans by attending Rocky’s trial in downtown Los Angeles, where he faces charges related to an alleged shooting involving a former friend back in 2021.

Rihanna was clad in black and sat in the courtroom among Rocky’s mother, Renee Black, and sister, Erika B. Mayers, as noted by People.

At 36 years old, Rihanna intentionally kept a low profile to attend the trial and was accompanied by security to the courthouse, shielding her from the courtroom’s cameras, reported the AP.

This court visit is significant as it’s Rihanna’s first show of support for Rocky since his legal troubles began.

Rocky, whose full name is Rakim Athelston Mayers, is facing two felony charges for allegedly firing a handgun at Terell Ephron, who is also known as A$AP Relli, in 2021. If found guilty, Rocky could face a sentence of up to 24 years in prison.

The trial commenced on Friday and is set to span three weeks. On Tuesday, the accuser, Terell Ephron, started recounting the events of the alleged incident to the courtroom.

According to the AP, Rihanna watched closely as Ephron described the alleged shooting, which supposedly took place on a Hollywood street.

In January 2024, Rocky entered a not guilty plea to the weapons charges.

The legal issues facing the New York native are undoubtedly affecting his relationship with Rihanna, with whom he shares two sons, RZA, 2, and Riot Rose, 1.

“We’re ready to go. It’s been a long time,” said Rocky’s defense attorney, Joe Tacopina, following a hearing on January 15, as reported by The Associated Press. “It’s been something that’s been hanging over Rocky, Rihanna, and their family for a while. We’re eager to move forward and put this behind him.”
