Jerseys for USA, Canada, Finland, and Sweden Released Ahead of 4 Nations Face-Off
In December, the teams participating in the 4 Nations Face-Off were announced along with their captains, and this week, the tournament officials unveiled the jerseys for the USA, Canada, Finland, and Sweden, to be worn in February.
The uniforms, which were created by Fanatics with feedback from the NHL and NHL Players’ Association, were showcased on Friday.
Differing from NHL games, where players wear different colors depending on home or away status, each nation will sport the same jersey for every match.
The exciting international competition will run from February 12-20 at Montreal’s Bell Centre and Boston’s TD Garden. Here’s an overview of the jerseys:
USA 4 Nations Face-Off Jersey
Inspired by the American flag, this jersey features navy blue as its main color, accented with red and white stripes on the sleeves and bottom. Each shoulder has a white star patch reminiscent of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” Olympics in Lake Placid. The chest and back showcase 13 subtle stripes symbolizing the original 13 colonies. The motto “E Pluribus Unum,” taken from the Great Seal of the United States, is emblazoned on the sleeves.
Canada 4 Nations Face-Off Jersey
Canada’s uniform is primarily red with white maple leaf accents. The front features a 13-pointed maple leaf, inspired by the initial design of the Canadian flag. Inside the leaf is the word “Canada” in an arched format, while the sleeves are decorated with embossed maple leaf vines.
Finland 4 Nations Face-Off Jersey
This is the sole white jersey in the tournament, representing Finland’s expansive winter landscape. “Suomi,” the Finnish term for Finland, is displayed prominently on the front. The modern interpretation of the national coat of arms—a crowned lion against the backdrop of the Finnish sky—is featured, with the national flower, Convallaria Majalis, embossed on the sleeves and inner neckline.
Sweden 4 Nations Face-Off Jersey
The yellow and blue jersey showcases a contemporary redesign of the Tre Kronor (three crowns), which has historically represented Sweden in international hockey. A striped design on the sleeves resembles the Swedish flag.
