Pete Davidson Reveals His 200 Tattoos Are Fading After Years of Challenging Laser Treatments

Pete Davidson reveals that he is nearly tattoo-free after enduring painful laser treatments

Pete Davidson’s long road to removing his tattoos is almost complete.

On Thursday night during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the 31-year-old former “Saturday Night Live” star shared that he has significantly reduced his tattoo count from around 200.

“It’s a terrible process,” Davidson remarked regarding the tattoo removal, which he likened to “burning them off.” He emphasized that it is “worse” than getting the tattoos in the first place.

“They have to remove a layer of skin, then it needs to heal for about six to eight weeks. You can’t expose it to sunlight and you have to go through it about 12 more times,” he explained, causing the audience to gasp in disbelief.

“Just imagine that ‘Game of Thrones’ tattoo,” he quipped.

The comedian, who is currently promoting his animated film “Dog Man,” mentioned that he intends to retain “maybe two or three tattoos,” as he aims to start fresh and act more like an adult.

In the past, his tattoos celebrated former relationships, as well as references to “Spongebob Squarepants,” “Rocky Balboa,” Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Hillary Clinton.

During a 2021 interview with Seth Meyers, Davidson noted that part of his motivation for removing tattoos stemmed from his acting aspirations.

“I assumed that after ‘SNL,’ my chances in the movie industry were done,” he said. “I honestly never imagined I would have opportunities to act, and I enjoy it immensely. It can take around three hours to cover all my tattoos because, for some reason, people in films don’t have many.”

He also elaborated on how the experience of laser removal was a bit humbling.

“The doctor is right there with you, and before he starts the laser treatment for each tattoo, he has to announce what it is to confirm if you want to keep it or not,” Davidson shared with Meyers. “So there I am, feeling a bit loopy from the Pro-Nox, which I actually find quite enjoyable. Suddenly, I’ll hear, ‘Are we keeping Stewie Griffin smoking a blunt?’

“And then I have to respond, ‘No, Dr. G.’ And he would just say, ‘All right then.'”
