This Sunday, February 2, marks not only Groundhog Day but also the much-loved National Tater Tot Day, a day dedicated to celebrating one of America’s favorite side dishes.

According to US Foods, the creation of tater tots dates back to 1953 when F. Nephi Grigg of Ore-Ida devised a method to utilize potato scraps left over from producing frozen French fries. The name “tater tot” is a trademark owned by Ore-Ida, a well-known American brand of frozen potato foods that’s now part of Kraft Heinz.

Domino’s Features Loaded Tots in Mix & Match Offer

While Domino’s isn’t providing a specific deal for National Tater Tot Day, the pizza chain offers Loaded Tots as part of its Mix & Match Deal.

With this deal, customers can select any two or more items from the menu for $6.99 each. Domino’s Loaded Tots are available in three flavors: Philly Cheese Steak, Cheddar Bacon, and Melty 3-Cheese.

Sheetz Brings Back Tater Totz

Sheetz announced this Tuesday that Tater Totz have returned to their menu after being unavailable for a year and a half.

Customers can find Tater Totz at all Sheetz locations. A cup of tots is priced at $4.49, while a bucket costs $5.59, as stated in the release.

To celebrate National Tater Tot Day, Sheetz is offering a $1 discount on any Tater Totz purchase from February 2-6, accessible via the “OFFERZ” section of the Sheetz app.

Customers have the option to customize their tots with five different seasonings and a range of 15 dipping sauces, according to Sheetz.
