Taylor Swift’s Surprising Grammy Night: A Night Without Awards

Taylor Swift overlooked at the Grammys, leaves without any awards

Unfortunately, the lead figure in the Tortured Poets Department left the event with no accolades.

Taylor Swift made a statement on the Grammys red carpet in a stunning custom gown by Vivienne Westwood. The beaded red “T” chain, which dangled over her upper thigh, generated a buzz on social media.

Although many of her devoted fans believed she would take home some awards, Swift didn’t win in any of the six categories she was nominated for: album of the year, best pop album, record of the year, song of the year, best pop duo/group performance, and best music video.

In terms of achievements, Swift’s 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” outshined competing albums for album of the year. The album led the charts for 17 weeks and made history as the first record to achieve a billion streams on Spotify in just five days.

Swift lost the album of the year award to Beyoncé, song of the year to Kendrick Lamar, record of the year also to Kendrick Lamar, best pop duo/group performance to Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, best pop vocal album to Sabrina Carpenter, and best music video to Kendrick Lamar.

Announcing the country album of the year

Earlier in the night, the Eras Tour artist took the stage to present the best country album award to Beyoncé for “Cowboy Carter,” a category Swift had previously won in 2010.

“Hello, they say you never forget where you started, and I will always remember standing right here, nearly 15 years ago, accepting the Grammy for best country album,” Swift expressed. “This honor has been awarded to many artists I deeply respect, including the Chicks, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, George Strait, Faith Hill, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, and Shania Twain.”

Despite the lack of awards, Swift appeared to be in good spirits. In the closing moments of the ceremony, she was spotted toasting with Jay-Z while his wife, Beyoncé, celebrated her historic win for album of the year.
