Coldplay Pays Tribute to Liam Payne, Toby Keith, and More at the Grammys

Grammys pay tribute to Liam Payne, Toby Keith, and others with emotional performance by Coldplay

Amidst the glitz and glamour of the Grammy Awards, a heartfelt tribute was paid to the music legends who have recently passed away.

Chris Martin of Coldplay performed “All My Love” alongside a five-piece band as a memorial for stars like Liam Payne and Toby Keith.

The “In Memoriam” segment began with a tribute to the late One Direction member, who tragically passed away in October at the young age of 31 after an accident from a balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following the incident, five individuals have been charged regarding Payne’s death.

Fans of One Direction took to social media to express their appreciation for the poignant tribute to the “Night Changes” singer. The video showcased Payne enjoying himself with a large crowd and his bandmates, playfully urging fans to lower their cheers and then raise them again. In another scene, he is seen embracing a wall adorned with fan art.

“We’ve done some incredible things,” Payne says in one clip, beaming with joy.

“this tribute to liam has me in tears :(( seeing moments like this still feels unreal,” shared one fan on X.

Martin’s performance concluded with a photo honoring Toby Keith, who also passed away in 2024 after a courageous fight with stomach cancer. He was 62 years old.

Additional artists recognized included Kris Kristofferson, known for “For the Good Times,” rapper Rich Homie Quan, and music icons Cissy Houston and Marianne Faithfull, who both passed away just last week.

Earlier that evening, the Grammys also honored the legendary music producer Quincy Jones with a nearly 20-minute tribute, featuring performances by Cynthia Erivo (“Fly Me to the Moon”), Stevie Wonder (“We Are the World”), and Janelle Monáe, who donned an “I Heart QJ” shirt under a Michael Jackson-inspired outfit while performing “Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough.”
