Lady Gaga Unveils Surprise Track ‘Abracadabra’ at the Grammys, Sends Support to Trans Community

During the 2025 Grammy Awards on Sunday night, Lady Gaga surprised fans by premiering a new song and music video titled “Abracadabra” from her upcoming album, “Mayhem.” She also took the opportunity to express her support for trans individuals.

This unexpected track was showcased during a commercial break instead of a traditional performance slot, beginning with a playful reference to the ceremony. “The category is dance or die,” Gaga declared with a dark twist.

“Abracadabra” features an upbeat dance rhythm that harkens back to Gaga’s distinct dark pop style from the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Fans Enthusiastic About Lady Gaga’s New Release

The song quickly gained buzz on social media, with many fans labeling it the “song of the decade.”

“Lady Gaga being weird again??? REAL POP MUSIC IS BACK,” one user expressed on X. “This is the best Lady Gaga track on first listen since G.U.Y,” commented another, referring to the 2013 single from “ARTPOP.”

A press release highlighted the music video as showcasing “a dance battle between light and darkness within Gaga.” With vibrant colors and sharp choreography, Gaga and her dancers create a dynamic scene in white, while she occasionally appears in striking red – a nod to the “lady in red.” Halfway through, the video shifts, with Gaga donning a new crimson outfit and her dancers exchanging their white attire for elegant black cloaks and canes.

Co-directed by Lady Gaga, Paris Goebel, and Bethany Vargas, the video features choreography created with a team of 40 dancers. The styling and wardrobe were managed by Peri Rosenzweig and Nick Royal, including an “upcycled white cape made from vintage wedding dresses” as detailed in the official announcement.

“Abracadabra” marks the third single from Gaga’s highly anticipated 14-track album, “Mayhem,” set to be released on March 7.

Gaga Advocates for Trans Rights

Gaga and Bruno Mars won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo with the album’s lead single, “Die With A Smile,” released last August. While on stage, Gaga took a moment to affirm her support for the LGBTQ+ community.

“Trans people are not invisible,” she asserted. “Trans individuals deserve love. The queer community deserves recognition.”

In a statement prior to the event, Gaga shared that her album symbolizes “reassembling a shattered mirror” and marks a return to “the pop music my earliest fans cherished.”

“Even if you can’t perfectly piece everything back together, you can still create something beautiful and whole in a fresh and unique way,” she expressed.
