Colorado Space Force Base Becomes Hub for Immigration Operations

Colorado’s Space Force Base is a Hub for Immigration Enforcement Preparations

AURORA, Colorado ‒ A congressman from the area has confirmed that Buckley Space Force Base, located near Denver, is serving as a staging site for law enforcement agencies involved in immigration enforcement operations.

Despite this, Rep. Jason Crow, a Democrat who represents the district and visited the base on Monday, reported that he found no signs of the mass-detention facility that military officials had mentioned they would set up last month.

Having served in the U.S. Army, Crow has expressed concerns that deploying the military for mass deportations could compromise its overall mission to protect the country.

Buckley Space Force Base specializes in global missile warning, intelligence gathering, and cyber operations.

“People are genuinely concerned about the military being used for political purposes,” Crow stated to reporters following his visit. “Utilizing our military for what I perceive to be both morally wrong and ineffective is not what anyone enlists for.”

Former President Donald Trump has frequently criticized the city of Aurora, represented by Crow, for not doing enough to safeguard its residents from Venezuelan gangsters living illegally in the area. While campaigning in Aurora, Trump pledged that immigration agents would promptly act against these gangs once he was in office.

Media reports had suggested that ICE agents planned to carry out mass raids in Aurora last week, but they scaled back their actions after receiving significant public attention. Crow, who has consistently opposed Trump, noted that most Americans favor focused immigration enforcement rather than widespread raids carried out in secrecy.

Crow remarked, “Transparency breeds accountability. I am looking for more information and wish I had more details to share.”

Last month, the U.S. military’s Northern Command announced it would provide various facilities, including an operations center, staging area, and temporary holding spaces for detainees. Crow acknowledged that due to its location close to Denver and Aurora, along with its runways for deportation flights, the base is a logical choice for these operations.

As a member of Congress, Crow emphasizes the importance of oversight regarding the Executive Branch. He has previously clashed with the first Trump administration over an ICE detention facility’s management in Aurora and plans to revisit Buckley soon.

“The best approach is just to show up and start asking questions,” he said.
