‘The Voice’: Reba McEntire hands over the reins to new judge Kelsea Ballerini with heartfelt message
Kelsea Ballerini has received a special gift from Reba McEntire to add to her “Baggage.”
Kelsea has been announced as the latest coach on “The Voice,” and McEntire penned a touching letter for her as they swap roles as the iconic country music stars on NBC’s reality competition, as reported by People magazine.
“Dear Kelsea, I just heard the wonderful news about you becoming the new coach this season! I’m thrilled for you. It’s now your responsibility to keep the country spirit alive on the show, and I have every confidence that you’ll excel at it,” McEntire’s letter stated.
“Now go out there and show those boys who the boss really is,” the note added, referring to Ballerini’s fellow judges John Legend, Adam Levine, and Michael Bublé.
McEntire also included a “little good luck charm for you, just in case,” a crown that once belonged to “Queen Reba” from earlier seasons.
On Monday, Ballerini took to Instagram to express her excitement about joining the judging panel on “The Voice.”
“I’m joining @nbcthevoice as the new coach tonight. I’ve gained three brothers, been continuously inspired by the talent this season, and I’ve loved every moment of this journey so far. Tune in at 8/7c TO WATCH ME HIT THE RED BUTTON FOR MY FAVORITE ARTISTS!!!!” the country singer wrote in her post.
The 27th season of the show sees the return of original coach Adam Levine. The Maroon 5 frontman exited the show in 2019 after an impressive 16-season stint and three wins.
This year has been significant for Ballerini with the success of her song “Patterns,” released last October, along with her achievements during the awards season.
Recently, she attended the 67th Grammy Awards with her boyfriend Chase Stokes and “Cowboy Cry Too” collaborator Noah Kahan. Ballerini dazzled in a textured Tamara Ralph minidress, complemented by a soft, flowing jacket.
She was nominated for best country duo/group performance for “Cowboys Cry Too,” but the award went to Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus for their popular song “Cowboy Carter” titled “II Most Wanted.”
Catch “The Voice” every Monday at 7 p.m. Central Time on NBC.
