Duchess Meghan enlists Billie Eilish to bring joy to teen affected by LA fires
Billie Eilish’s newest partnership? The Duchess of Sussex.
On Tuesday, Duchess Meghan shared an Instagram video revealing that she enlisted the help of the “Bad Guy” singer to surprise a young girl who lost her home in the Los Angeles wildfires.
Meghan recounted her visit to Altadena, California, the previous month, where she met a mother whose 15-year-old daughter was heartbroken over losing a Billie Eilish T-shirt in the flames.
“When they returned to see their home for the first time, which is when we were meeting, the only thing she was searching for in her home was the T-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had left in the washer or the dryer,” Meghan explained. “Unfortunately, they saw their house and discovered that the washer and dryer had turned to ash. They were gone.”
Meghan remembered assuring the mother that even though she didn’t personally know Eilish, she would do her best to get a replacement shirt. The Duchess then recorded a voice message for Eilish and began reaching out to find someone who could assist her in obtaining it.
Eilish received Meghan’s message and exceeded her expectations by fulfilling the request. During Meghan’s video, she expressed her excitement as she had just received a whole bundle of Eilish merchandise—not just the replacement T-shirt that the teenager lost. Meghan showcased various items, including several clothing pieces, a lunchbox, and a signed version of Eilish’s most recent album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”
“You guys, I don’t even know what all this stuff is, but it’s signed for her,” Meghan stated, humorously noting that she felt “really old” for not fully grasping the references to Eilish’s work.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Billie Eilish,” Meghan expressed. “This will mean the world to her.”
Duchess Meghan, originally from Los Angeles, and her husband, Prince Harry, previously offered shelter to friends during the devastating wildfires in the area. Last month, the couple provided suggestions on their website for how others could help, including offering friends “a safe haven in your home” and “donating clothing, children’s toys, and other necessities.” Meghan also visited the Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery, a group supporting those impacted by the Eaton Canyon fire, bringing bags of donations.
Eilish, who also hails from Los Angeles, recently participated in a FireAid benefit concert aimed at raising funds for those affected by the fires.
“This is such a terrifying time, and LA is my favorite place in the world, my only home, and I care about it deeply,” Eilish remarked. “To everyone facing challenges, I love you, and I’m here for you.”
