Travis Kelce thinks it’s ‘cool’ that Trump will be at the Super Bowl; President said ‘I hate Taylor Swift.’
Travis Kelce has expressed his excitement about President Donald Trump’s upcoming attendance at Super Bowl 59.
During a press conference on Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end remarked that it’s “pretty cool” for Trump to be present at the game where his team will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
“That’s awesome. It’s a great honor,” Kelce said to reporters, as captured in videos shared by various news outlets. “I think, you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that would be pretty cool.”
However, Kelce happens to be dating pop star Taylor Swift, who has been criticized by Trump. In September, he famously wrote “I hate Taylor Swift” on Truth Social.
In the same month, Trump also told Fox News that he favored Brittany Mahomes, who is married to NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes and is a Kansas City businesswoman, over Swift.
Brittany Mahomes stirred some controversy when she liked an Instagram post that seemed to endorse Trump’s “2024 GOP Platform,” which included proposals like sealing the border, preventing “men from participating in women’s sports,” and cutting funds for schools teaching critical race theory. She later unliked the post but has continued to engage with pro-Trump comments on social media.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes a lot more, if you want to know the truth,” Trump remarked, indicating he appreciates Brittany’s support. He mentioned that he isn’t a fan of Taylor Swift and questioned the possibility of her endorsing Biden, stating, “she’s a very liberal person.”
He went on to assert that Swift “seems to always endorse a Democrat” and suggested she might face repercussions for this stance. He described Brittany Mahomes as “fantastic” and a “big MAGA fan,” contrasting her with Swift, whom he does not favor.
Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris over Trump in the past
Trump’s remarks followed Swift’s endorsement of former Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for the 2024 presidential election after a debate between Harris and Trump.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country,” Swift wrote.
She added: “Recently, I was made aware that AI generated a false endorsement of Donald Trump on his site. This really raised my concerns about AI and the spreading of misinformation. It led me to believe that I must be honest about my voting intentions for this election. The easiest way to counter misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift concluded her message by saying, “I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m supporting @kamalaharris because she champions the rights and causes I believe in. I see her as a steady, capable leader, and I believe we’re capable of achieving so much more under calm leadership rather than chaos. I was really impressed by her choice of running mate, @timwalz, who has long advocated for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s bodily autonomy.”
“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my decision. The research is up to you, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to emphasize to first-time voters: Remember that you must be registered to vote! I find that voting early is much easier, so I’ll provide links for voter registration and early voting information in my story,” she added.
