Kansas City Sports Reporter Passes Away in New Orleans Before Super Bowl 59, According to TV Station
Telemundo Kansas City reporter Adan Manzano’s wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd Manzano, tragically died in a car accident in Topeka, Kansas last year.
A sports journalist tragically passed away on Wednesday while in New Orleans to report on Super Bowl 59, as stated by the Kansas City television station he was affiliated with.
Telemundo Kansas City (KGKC) announced on Thursday that 27-year-old Adan Manzano, who fulfilled roles as both an anchor and reporter, died while on assignment covering the Super Bowl for their Spanish broadcast and Tico Sports.
“We mourn the loss of Adan Manzano, who died yesterday in New Orleans,” KGKC shared in a press release. “We are working with law enforcement as they look into this unfortunate situation.”
KGKC remembered Manzano as a “true professional and rising star,” noting his commitment to excellence in his journalism. This was his third consecutive year reporting on the Super Bowl for the station.
“We will greatly miss Adan and his enthusiasm for sports and the positive impact he had on our local community,” the station expressed. “Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends during this tough time.”
The police department in New Orleans has informed YSL News that they currently have no additional details regarding the incident.
Tico Sports: ‘Adan was a Dedicated Father to His Young Daughter’
Tico Sports issued a statement to YSL News, expressing, “Adan was an exceptionally skilled and professional broadcaster, providing sideline coverage for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Spanish broadcasts and serving as a play-by-play announcer for the KC Current. He was a vibrant and enthusiastic team player who earned the respect and affection of many.”
“Adan was a devoted father to his young daughter, a supportive coworker, and a loyal friend. We will all miss him deeply, and he will remain in our hearts and memories as part of our TICO Family,” the statement continued.
Manzano’s Wife Died in a Car Accident Last Year
Adan Manzano’s wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd Manzano, lost her life in a tragic car accident in Topeka, Kansas on April 11, 2024. The crash not only took the life of the second-grade teacher but also caused serious injuries to her infant passenger and the driver of another vehicle involved.
Tiffany Anderson, Superintendent of Topeka USD 501, referred to Boyd as a “bright light” beloved by her second-grade students, as noted in an email to parents obtained by Topeka Capital-Journal, part of the YSL News Network.
“Ashleigh was a remarkably kind, caring, and beautiful individual. Her radiant personality was infectious, illuminating any space she entered,” her obituary stated. “She embodied positivity and always greeted everyone with a smile. Ashleigh left a significant impact on countless lives and inspired everyone she encountered!”
