On Friday morning, a small aircraft crashed on a bustling avenue in Sao Paulo, Brazil, resulting in the deaths of two pilots and injuries to six others, according to reports from the local fire department.
The remains of the two victims were discovered burnt inside the Beech F90 King Air plane, which had taken off from Sao Paulo and was headed to Porto Alegre in southern Brazil, local officials reported.
The incident occurred on Marques de Sao Vicente Avenue, where the plane collided with a bus after the crash.
“Regrettably, we began the day with this unfortunate aviation accident,” Sao Paulo Governor Tarcisio de Freitas posted on social media, confirming that the deceased were the pilot and co-pilot of the plane.
He praised the swift response of the fire department, which managed to put out the fire within minutes, averting an even larger calamity.
The fire department indicated that a woman on the bus and a motorcyclist, who was hit by debris, were hospitalized. Four additional individuals experienced minor injuries.
