ABC has announced that Grant Ellis is the new “Bachelor,” following his heartfelt departure from “The Bachelorette” on Monday night.

With this role, Ellis becomes only the second Black “Bachelor” in the show’s more than 20-year existence, the first being Matt James, who starred in the 25th season in 2021.

Ellis will start his quest for love early next year when Season 29 airs.

“As the Bachelor, Ellis is excited to embark on a captivating journey of romance, adventure, and genuine relationships,” stated ABC in a press release. “He aims to find a partner who values loyalty, humor, and cherishes life’s simple joys.”

Despite his charm, Jenn Tran chose to send Ellis home, as she felt she couldn’t envision bringing him home to meet her family, as reported by YSL News. Although he fit her type perfectly, she ultimately moved to eliminate him.

“He’s attractive, he’s attractive, and he’s also attractive,” said Tran.

Though Ellis faced disappointment from this decision, he has a new chance to find the right partner for him.

“When you face setbacks, you have to adjust,” he mentioned. “I ventured into finance, and since then, things have been progressing well. The one thing I’m missing now is my partner.”

The 30-year-old Ellis, who is a former professional basketball player and day trader, considers himself a “self-proclaimed mama’s boy.” His cheerful smile and relentless positivity brighten up any environment, according to ABC.
