Authorities are looking into a shooting incident that injured four individuals early Wednesday at Virginia State University.

 

A representative from Chesterfield County Police Department informed YSL News that the incident occurred shortly after midnight near Daniel Gymnasium on campus.

Officers arrived at Boisseau Street at around 12:36 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire, where they discovered four people who had been shot, according to a police statement.

All four victims were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital where they are being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, according to police reports.

 

Police confirmed that as of mid-Wednesday morning, there was no ongoing threat to the Virginia State community related to the shooting.

Information identifying the four individuals who were shot has not been released yet.

 

Were the shooting victims students at Virginia State University?

Initial investigations revealed that none of the victims were registered for the fall 2024 semester, according to police statements.

 

“Contrary to some reports, no officers fired their weapons during this event,” police stated in their release.

Law enforcement has managed to identify multiple suspects, and charges are expected to follow, officials disclosed.
