RFK Jr. Seeks Meeting with Kamala Harris to Explore Possible Cabinet Position

RFK Jr. attempted to arrange a meeting with Kamala Harris regarding Cabinet position

WASHINGTON — Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent candidate for president, recently tried to set up a meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a knowledgeable source.

Kennedy was hoping to discuss a potential role in her administration, specifically a position in the Cabinet, if Harris, the Democratic candidate, were to win the election. This was reported first by the Washington Post and later confirmed by the New York Times.

Last week, Kennedy’s advisers contacted Harris’s campaign, but there was no response from Harris or her team, leaving them disinterested, as noted by a source speaking to YSL News.

According to Democratic National Committee spokesman Matt Corridoni, “There’s no intent to negotiate with a fringe candidate backed by MAGA who has approached Donald Trump in hopes of securing a job in exchange for his endorsement.”

In an interview with the Post on Wednesday, Kennedy remarked, “I believe this is a strategic error on their part. In my view, they should consider every possibility. This will likely be a very close contest.”

On Thursday, he posted on X, previously known as Twitter, indicating that he does not plan to support Harris. “I do have a strategy to defeat her,” he asserted.

Additionally, a Kennedy campaign advisor had reached out to DNC chairman Jaime Harrison a few weeks back to suggest a meeting, but Harrison showed no interest, resulting in no meeting taking place, according to another source familiar with the interactions.

Stefanie Spear, a spokesperson for Kennedy, stated that “Mr. Kennedy is open to discussions with leaders from both parties regarding the formation of a unity government.”

This latest attempt by Kennedy comes as he has seen a decline in his polling numbers since Harris joined the race. Some recent polls indicate that Kennedy, son of the renowned liberal figure Robert F. Kennedy, might be affecting Trump’s numbers more than those of Harris in the upcoming election.

Last month, the Post revealed that Kennedy had discussions with Trump regarding a potential Cabinet role in a future Trump government in return for his endorsement. Trump and Kennedy met in Milwaukee at the Republican National Convention, where a leaked phone call showcased a conversation about Kennedy’s prospects.

“I would love to see you take on some roles. It would be very beneficial for you and significant, and we will be victorious,” Trump expressed to Kennedy.

A judge in New York recently ruled that Kennedy cannot appear on the state’s ballot in November, determining that he had submitted a “sham” residency in his nomination paperwork by listing a New York address instead of his California residence. Kennedy is currently appealing this ruling, but it could lead to similar residency challenges in other states.
