‘You’re casting your vote for democracy’: Former Trump aide urges GOP voters to reconsider
Olivia Troye, the former national security advisor at the White House, spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Wednesday, sharing the reasons for her departure from the Trump-Pence Administration.
The ex-Republican expressed that the values she once upheld are now what drives her support for Vice President Kamala Harris, voicing her fears about a potential second term for former president Donald Trump.
“To my fellow Republicans, you’re not just backing a Democrat; you’re supporting democracy. You’re not betraying your party; you’re defending our nation,” Troye stated.
Having left the White House in August 2020, Troye published an Op-Ed for MSNBC describing her disapproval of the former president, labeling him as “unhinged, dangerous, and extreme.”
The Democratic National Committee convention is ongoing in Chicago until Thursday, with Vice President Kamala Harris scheduled to accept the party’s nomination for the 2024 presidential election on November 5.
