Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris and the daughter of Doug Emhoff, is reminiscing about the unforgettable moment when her “Momala” congratulated President Joe Biden with the words, “We did it, Joe” after their victory in the 2020 presidential election against Donald Trump – this time adding her own fashionable flair.

Recently, Emhoff has created made a splash with a stylish political collaboration for the Democratic National Convention. She partnered with trendy TikTok dress designer Joe Ando to craft a stylish off-the-shoulder dress, adorned with a crochet flower accent on the left side and featuring a drop waist for Day 4 of the convention.

Emhoff joyfully commented “WE DID IT JOE!!!!!” on one of Ando’s TikTok videos.

Ando, who has gained over 2.7 million followers on Instagram and nearly 3 million followers on TikTok, first previewed the blue-and-white dress in a TikTok on Monday, hinting to viewers “you’ll see it on national TV in three days.” Then, on Thursday, he shared a video of himself enjoying Emhoff’s speech at the DNC, captioning it, “ELLA LOOKS SO GOOD.”

On Thursday, prior to the vice president’s speech, Emhoff shared her experiences with her stepmother alongside Harris’ goddaughter Helena Hudlin and niece Meena Harris.

“Kamala became part of my life at the age of 14, which is notoriously a challenging time for teenagers,” she shared with the audience. “Like many young people, I wasn’t always sure of my feelings, but regardless, Kamala was always there for me. She was patient, supportive, and truly valued my thoughts.”

Emhoff added: “She has always listened to me, and she won’t stop listening to all of us.”

In a 2019 feature in Elle, Harris revealed that her stepson Cole was named after the legendary jazz musician John Coltrane and that her stepdaughter Ella was named after the iconic jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald. Ella completed her studies at the Parsons School of Design in New York City in May 2021, and Cole married Greenley Littlejohn in October 2023, with Harris officiating the ceremony.

Ella Emhoff is the child of Kerstin Emhoff, Doug Emhoff’s ex-wife and a close friend and co-parent of the vice president. Kerstin, an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, recently shared with CNN about Harris: “She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and consistently present. I cherish our blended family and feel thankful to have her as part of it.”
