TLC singer Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins is currently recovering after experiencing a medical emergency prior to a scheduled performance.

The group, featuring Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, had to cancel their August 23 show at the New York State Fair just under an hour before it was slated to begin due to T-Boz facing a “severe abdominal blockage,” as per a statement shared by the event organizers on Instagram.

“After a thrilling performance in Toledo, Ohio, the duo was looking forward to their next gig at the New York State Fair in Syracuse,” the announcement noted. “However, shortly after they arrived in Syracuse, Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins reported sudden severe nausea, vomiting, and sharp abdominal pains.”

According to the statement, which was shared on TLC’s official Instagram, Watkins was “promptly evaluated by a doctor and subsequently taken to the hospital for more tests.” Due to the diagnosis of an abdominal blockage, TLC had no choice but to cancel both their Friday performance and another scheduled for Saturday, where they were supposed to share the stage with Shaggy at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.

The statement added, “The doctor confirmed that this was not due to food poisoning, but rather an abdominal blockage. Tionne is very sorry for canceling these shows and sends her heartfelt apologies to all her fans and the event promoters. The decision to cancel was made based on her doctor’s advice, who ordered her to remain in the hospital overnight to undergo a CT scan to evaluate her condition further.”

Watkins is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Sunday.

On Saturday, Watkins provided a health update on Instagram, sharing that she is “on the mend” and noted that “this was just one of those unforeseen situations that I had no control over.”

She expressed her eagerness to make it up to her fans and thanked them for their understanding.

TLC aims to reschedule the canceled performances at a later date.
