Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling Reconnect After 18-Year Silence Post ‘90210’

Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling are discussing the long pause in their friendship that lasted 18 years.

The former stars of “Beverly Hills, 90210” opened up on Monday’s episode of the “Oldish” podcast, revealing they had not spoken for almost two decades after the series concluded.

Spelling, known for her role as Donna Martin in the iconic teen drama, expressed how emotional she felt on the last day of filming. She shared that she was crying because she feared that she and Green, who portrayed David Silver, would drift apart.

“We were so connected,” she remarked. “Having grown up as friends made it feel like a breakup. I felt a mix of excitement to move on and sadness about losing someone who was such a big part of my everyday life.”

Spelling remembered Green promising they would stay friends and go on vacations, but, in reality, that turned out to be “the last time we spoke for 18 years.”

Both actors discussed their differing perspectives on why they lost touch. Green mentioned that he attempted to maintain the friendship, but sensed a lack of effort on Spelling’s part. He recalled a moment at a “90210” DVD launch where she didn’t greet him. “I felt like she just didn’t want to be friends anymore,” he stated. “I tried reaching out, but when it wasn’t reciprocated, I eventually gave up.”

Spelling explained that she had distanced herself because Green was not supportive of her relationship with her then-boyfriend, Vincent Young. Green agreed, expressing concern for her wellbeing in that relationship, while Spelling felt similarly about Green’s girlfriend at the time, Vanessa Marcil.

“It was tough to see a close friend in a relationship that was not healthy,” Spelling shared. “You want to help, but ultimately, they have to make their own choices.”

Despite their extended silence, Spelling mentioned she always wanted to reconnect with Green after her breakup with Young but felt it was “too late.” Fortunately, both actors have reconciled and even worked together on the 2019 series “BH90210.”

“We’re back in touch now,” Green noted. “We’ve rebuilt our friendship, and I’m thrilled we can have this conversation. We’ve overcome that long gap, and here we are again.”

Recently, both Spelling and Green honored their late co-star Shannen Doherty, who passed away at 53 after battling cancer. Green posted, “I’ll miss you more than I know how to express,” while Spelling shared, “I don’t have the words yet…but we understood each other, and that means everything.”

In an April episode of her “misSPELLING” podcast, Spelling reminisced, calling Green the “first love of my life.”
