Tom Brady Might Face Fox Limitations If He Becomes a Part-Owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, According to Report

If Tom Brady becomes a partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, his role as a broadcaster could be significantly impacted.

According to ESPN, if the NFL approves Brady’s ownership application, he will face multiple restrictions in his broadcasting role at Fox. This topic was brought up during recent league meetings in Minneapolis.

If Brady becomes an owner, he will be bound by the league’s anti-gambling and tampering rules, and he will not be allowed to:

  • Enter the facilities of other teams
  • Observe practices
  • Participate in broadcast production meetings, whether in-person or online
  • Criticize referees or teams

Brady can still commentate on games for Fox, but he will lack valuable insights typically gained from meetings with coaches and players. Other Fox team members working alongside him will not be affected by these restrictions.

These limitations could make Brady’s decision to invest in the Raiders more complicated. Reports of Brady discussing joining the team’s ownership group surfaced in May 2023, following his retirement from football. However, his proposal is still being reviewed by the league’s finance committee, which is the initial step for gaining ownership approval.

The exact percentage of the Raiders franchise that Brady would acquire, as well as the cost, remain uncertain. During the NFL owners’ meetings in Orlando in late March, an anonymous NFL owner indicated to YSL News Sports that any concerns about conflicts of interest had been addressed, but chose to remain unnamed due to the sensitive nature of the topic.

Brady is set to embark on the inaugural season of his 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox, partnering with Kevin Burkhardt on the network’s top team. His first game assignment will feature a Week 1 showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns.
