Key Details for Day 1 of the Paralympics: Viewing Options and Top Events on Thursday


After the opening ceremony on Wednesday, the 2024 Paralympic Games will officially kick off on Thursday, running until September 8.

 

The day promises thrilling competition with 22 medals available across various sports: four in cycling, 15 in swimming, and three in taekwondo.

Team sports will also commence group-stage matches. At 7:30 a.m. ET, Team USA’s mixed-gender wheelchair rugby squad will compete against Canada, where Sarah Adam aims to make history as the first woman to represent Team USA in this event at the Paralympics.

 

The U.S. men’s basketball team will also commence its pursuit of a third consecutive gold medal with its first match against Spain at 10 a.m. ET.

 

Young athletes Miles Krajewski and Jayci Simon will start their journey for medals in badminton mixed doubles, facing the Indian duo Sivarajan Solaimalai and Nithya Sre Sivan at 3:10 a.m. ET.
