Alix Earle Offers Another Apology for Past Use of Racial Slurs Against Black Individuals

Alix Earle has once more expressed regret for using racial slurs aimed at Black individuals over ten years ago.

The 23-year-old social media sensation, known for her “get ready with me” videos while attending the University of Miami, spoke out on Friday and assured her followers that she will “do better.” She is also the host of the hit podcast “Hot Mess with Alix Earle.”

“I will keep listening, learning, and improving. Love you all,” she wrote in a TikTok post, acknowledging that she dealt with this matter “terribly” and agreeing with her audience’s sentiments.

Earlier this week, Earle finally addressed the resurfacing of old screenshots from when she was 13, in which she used a racial slur. The Forbes 30 under 30 honoree confirmed their authenticity and offered an apology for her language during her teenage years.

These screenshots have circulated for the past two years but gained renewed attention this month. Earle mentioned that she received suggestions to remain silent but ultimately decided to take accountability for her lack of response.

She addressed her followers on TikTok again on Friday.

“I sincerely apologize to everyone in the Black community and to those in my audience whom I’ve disappointed,” Earle stated in the TikTok video. She further clarified, “I want to make it clear that that is not who I am as a person, and that is not how I communicate. It’s not what I believe in, and neither do my friends; I don’t think it’s acceptable.”

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model expressed her desire for young girls who admire her to understand that such language should never be used: “I don’t want any young girls watching this to think that because I haven’t addressed it, I condone it or think it’s amusing. Regardless of the context or my age then, it was wrong, and I take responsibility for that. I hesitated to speak about it because I feared saying something incorrect or not articulating it appropriately.” Earle discussed the reasons for her slow response to the issue.

Earle expressed her hope to show that this is not representative of her character and acknowledged, “I know I handled this situation poorly, and I’m striving to be honest, as this hasn’t been very transparent.”

In an Instagram story posted on Monday, she said, “Recently, screenshots from my old ask.fm account began circulating, revealing me using a slur in the summer of 2014. I am owning up to that and want to clarify that I was 13 at the time and didn’t fully comprehend the harmful implications of that word.”

She went on to say, “However, that in no way justifies my use of that word under any circumstances or at any age. That is not how I communicate or what I stand for. I genuinely regret that my remarks have hurt so many and led others to believe that I hold any biased views. I assure you, that is far from the truth.
