Toyota Issues Recall for 43,000 Sequoia Hybrids Due to Potential Tow Hitch Cover Hazards

Toyota recalls 43,000 Sequoia hybrids due to tow hitch cover issues

Toyota has announced a recall affecting certain vehicles due to a potential issue with the tow hitch cover possibly detaching.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling specific Sequoia Hybrid models from 2023-2024 that feature a tow hitch cover installed on the rear bumper.

The NHTSA recall notice states, “The tow hitch cover could become loose from the bumper and fall off the vehicle,” which may create a hazard on the road and elevate the risk of an accident.

This recall is part of a series of recalls that Toyota has issued this summer. Vehicle owners can verify their recall status through YSL News’s recall database or input their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the transportation department’s site.

Over 43,000 Toyota vehicles might be impacted

The total number of potentially affected Sequoia Hybrid vehicles is 43,395, as indicated in the recall notice. Notification letters will be sent to vehicle owners starting in early October.

Owners can also contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and reference recall numbers 24TB10 and 24TA10 for more information.

The resolution for this recall involves replacing the tow hitch cover and adjusting the rear bumper at no cost to the owners.
