The Rise and Fall of Target’s Beloved Lewis the Pumpkin Ghoul: A Seasonal Sensation

Target’s famous Lewis the Pumpkin Ghoul is making store appearances, but won’t stick around for long

This Labor Day weekend, embark on a mission to find Target’s sought-after Halloween decoration, the towering 8-foot Lewis the Pumpkin Ghoul, which sold out last year.

Lewis the Pumpkin Ghoul has started to appear in Target stores throughout the United States.

This eye-catching 8-foot Halloween figure, which gained popularity last year, became available on Target.com in late July for $180. His presence in stores signals the official start of the Halloween season for the retailer.

Lewis hasn’t reached every Target location yet, but you can check Target.com to find out if nearby stores have him in stock. However, if you’re eager to claim Target’s celebrated Lewis – and the new Lewis & Friends variants – you’ll need to act quickly.

Here are some details about Target’s 2024 Lewis & Friends collection.

Lewis collection is available while supplies last

Target has boosted the stock of Lewis and other pumpkin ghouls, including the nearly 6-foot tall guitar-playing Pumpkin Rocker Billy. However, these items will only be sold while supplies last according to the company.

“We were thrilled to see the joy Lewis brought to families last Halloween, so we’re excited to announce his return along with new friends,” said Jill Sando, Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, during the announcement of the expanded pumpkin ghoul line in July. “This exemplifies Target’s mission to deliver delightful surprises and offer even more new options. Lewis & Friends are eager to aid celebrations, so they’re not waiting for October.”

Pricing details for Target’s Lewis

This year, the large Lewis is priced at $180, with a smaller “Little” version available for $30 and a “Baby” version for $10. He has also introduced new companions. Here’s a glimpse of some of the decorations. Explore more of the store’s Halloween offerings for 2024.

Introducing Lewis the Pumpkin Ghoul

Lewis the Pumpkin Ghoul made his first appearance last year and sold out swiftly. Shoppers are already on the lookout for him at Target stores and are sharing their finds on social media.

This 8-foot figure is donned in a tattered robe and features a glowing orange jack-o’-lantern head. Accompanied by spooky sounds, he has several sayings, with his most famous being, “I am nota jack-o’-lantern. My name is Lewis.”

How to purchase: Lewis is starting to show up in stores but can also be bought online for $180. Target Circle 360 members can enjoy free shipping if they pay with their Target Circle card or spend over $35 with any payment method.

Bruce the Skeleton Ghoul

Bruce the Skeleton Ghoul, a new addition to the spooky lineup, is also 8 feet tall and comes with witty sayings. One of his lines is: “Why does everyone think I’m grim? I’m living my best afterlife, baby! Wuohahahaaaa!”

Dressed in a tattered robe, Bruce features glowing lime green eyes, hands, and a bony rib cage.

How to purchase: Bruce can be found in stores alongside Lewis and is also available online for $180.

Little Lewis

Many shoppers are also opting for smaller variants of Lewis, including this 65-inch ‘Little Lewis’ — there’s also Introducing Baby Lewis, a delightful 30-inch decoration perfect for Halloween, especially suited for those with limited space.

A smaller version, known as Little Lewis, stands at 5 feet 5 inches tall. It features a similarly cheerful pumpkin head that lights up and shares the same fun phrases as the larger Lewis. Plus, it comes equipped with a hanging loop, allowing you to display it both indoors and outdoors.

Availability: You can find Little Lewis online for $30, while Baby Lewis is priced at $10. Both will also be available in physical stores, alongside the larger Lewis.
