Tennessee, ranked No. 15, achieved a dominant 69-3 win against Chattanooga in the opening match for the Vols in the 2024 college football season on Saturday.

The victory left little room for criticism as Coach Josh Heupel’s team outclassed a clearly overpowered Mocs squad. Starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava showcased remarkable efficiency, connecting on 22 of 28 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Dylan Sampson had a standout performance with 12 carries for 124 yards and three touchdowns.

The defense also shined, holding Chattanooga to a mere 227 total yards and just three points.

However, one Tennessee fan found a reason to be dissatisfied post-game—not due to the team’s performance, but because of a personal matter. According to Russell Smith, one of the hosts of “The Voluntary Reaction” postgame show on Fox Sports Knoxville, a Tennessee supporter engaged in a heated argument with his wife during a phone call to the show.

This resulted in an uncomfortable situation live on-air, with listeners hearing the dispute.

“Get off the damn sports radio, it doesn’t matter to your family,” a woman’s voice was heard in the background saying. “It’s a sad situation. My dad needs your help.”

After a brief silence, the woman continued, “I’m so done with you. I know you don’t care. I’ll take your two-and-a-half million dollars.”

At that moment, the audio was cut off, leaving the outcome of the disagreement unclear.

It remains uncertain whether the Tennessee fan will decide to call into the show again in the future.
