San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been discharged from the hospital after recovering from a gunshot wound sustained during a robbery attempt, the team reported on Sunday.
Pearsall and a 17-year-old suspect were both hurt during a confrontation after the robbery attempt on Saturday afternoon in the Union Square neighborhood. They were taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, as stated by the San Francisco Police.
A decision regarding charges against the suspect, who will be processed in juvenile court, is expected on Tuesday or Wednesday, according to San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. Police Chief William Scott mentioned that there is no indication that Pearsall was specifically targeted due to his status as a professional football player.

Prior to his release on Sunday, Pearsall’s condition was classified as fair, according to NBC Sports Bay Area reporter Matt Maiocco.
A statement issued by Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital on Saturday night indicated that Pearsall was in serious but stable condition at the time of his admission.
Who is Ricky Pearsall?
Pearsall is a wide receiver selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 31st overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft held in April. Last season at the University of Florida, he recorded 65 receptions for 965 yards and four touchdowns. He transferred to Florida from Arizona State, where he played from 2019 to 2021.
At 23 years old, Pearsall was the sixth wide receiver selected in the first round of the draft.

On Sunday morning, reporter Kevin Brockway from the Gainesville Sun, associated with the YSL News Network, shared an update from Pearsall’s mother, Erin Pearsall, that appeared to be posted on Facebook.
“First and foremost, I want to thank GOD for keeping my boy safe,” she wrote. “He is incredibly fortunate, GOD protected him. He was shot in the chest, and the bullet exited through his back. Thank GOD it missed all his vital organs. My son was spared today by the grace of GOD.”
Information regarding the suspect in Ricky Pearsall’s shooting
San Francisco Police have not disclosed the suspect’s name but confirmed he is a 17-year-old from Tracy, California, located about 60 miles east of San Francisco.
The suspect reportedly attempted to flee after the shooting but was apprehended shortly after police arrived at the scene.
District Attorney Brooke Jenkins stated during a news conference on Saturday evening that charges will be determined next week.
