New Research Shows Plugged Wells and Decreased Injection Rates Diminish Induced Earthquake Occurrences in Oklahoma

Wastewater injection resulting from oil and gas production in Oklahoma caused a dramatic rise in seismic activity in the state between 2009 and 2015. But regulatory efforts to backfill some injection wells with cement and reduce injection volumes have been effective in lowering the state's induced earthquake rate, according to a new study. Is Taylor Swift going to the Chiefs game against the Ravens this Thursday? Here’s what we know

The NFL regular season has returned, and for new Swift fans, this means looking out for Taylor Swift’s appearance at Kansas City games on Thursdays.

Considering her schedule, it’s quite possible that Swift could attend. Currently, she is on a two-month break from her record-shattering Eras Tour, which resumes on October 18 in Miami. Her next notable event will be the VMAs in New York City on September 11, where she is nominated for ten awards.

Swift could potentially catch up to 14 Chiefs games this regular season, beginning with the Thursday matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Last year, she attended 13 games, leading to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory. She cheers for her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, from a suite overlooking Arrowhead Stadium, while he attended 13 international concerts during the Eras Tour.

From Chiefs fan to honorary coach?

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently gained attention after mentioning Swift to NBC’s Chris Simms, noting her interest in football strategies.

“She’s quite engaged in football and asks insightful questions,” he shared. “She’s even started sketching out plays; we might have to consider implementing one.”

Kelce confirmed Swift’s enthusiasm for the sport during his appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show” on Tuesday.

“Her attention to detail is what makes her excel in her field, from her lyrics and music to her video releases and everything else involved. I sense her curiosity extends to football. Although none of her plays have reached Coach (Andy) Reid yet, rest assured, if they do, everyone will know she crafted them,” he said.

Chiefs embrace Swiftie enthusiasm

The Kansas City Chiefs are kicking off the first game with a pregame event—the World’s Largest Tailgate—hosted by comedian Rob Riggle. This event will feature games and competitions, including a segment to determine which team can craft the most Chiefs-colored friendship bracelets in just 60 minutes.

Creating and exchanging friendship bracelets has become a popular trend in the Swiftie community. All bracelets crafted prior to the Chiefs vs. Ravens game will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Kansas City. The pregame festivities kick off at 5 p.m. CT on chiefslive.com.
