Ryan Seacrest takes the stage as the new host of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ alongside Vanna White

The era of Ryan Seacrest has officially begun on “Wheel of Fortune.”

In his debut episode on Monday, the new 49-year-old host eagerly kicked off the festivities on the dazzling and revamped “Wheel” set, stepping in after the legendary Pat Sajak retired in June, ending over 40 years and 8,000 episodes of hosting.

Seacrest made a cheerful entrance through impressive sliding lit doors, arm-in-arm with veteran co-host Vanna White. After a brief exchange of greetings and a “Welcome to the show!” from White, Seacrest took his place behind the iconic wheel.

“I still can’t believe how lucky I am to be here tonight, continuing this wonderful legacy of an amazing show,” said Seacrest, reminiscing about watching “Wheel” with his family during his childhood in Atlanta. “I recognize how special it is for ‘Wheel’ to have been part of your homes for the past 40 years, and I’m truly thankful to be welcomed in. I’m aware that I have some significant shoes to fill.”

Seacrest celebrates successful ‘Wheel’ experience, ensuring no disheartened moans from contestants

As Seacrest smoothly transitioned into contestant segments involving wheel spins and word puzzles just a minute into the show, he acknowledged the significance of this new chapter in the historic Hangman-inspired game show. The first puzzle revealed was “Opening Night,” followed by the second puzzle: “There’s A First Time For Everything.”

All three contestants walked away winners, with Terry Watson from Browns Summit, North Carolina, scoring trips to Italy and Mexico in addition to $25,893. However, Watson missed a chance for an extra $40,000 in the bonus round, which led to a sigh of disappointment from him.

Despite this, Seacrest assured it was still a win: “No grunting,” he said while giving Watson a pat on the back. “You’ve earned over $25,000 in cash and prizes, along with fantastic trips. Thank you for joining me on my debut evening.”

Seacrest reflects on the show with Vanna White: How did ‘Wheel’ do?

After the episode concluded, Seacrest and White had a recap of the night on the new set.

“I feel accomplished. We completed our first episode,” Seacrest remarked while taking in the sparkling lights around him. “What are your thoughts on the new set?”

“It looks stunning,” replied White.

“So many lights,” Seacrest responded. “Let’s hope everything goes smoothly for the week.”

As a result, the duo waved goodbye for the night.

“See you tomorrow!” Seacrest said enthusiastically.

Seacrest shares a video of his misadventures with ‘Wheel’ steps

Following the premiere, Seacrest shared a light-hearted gallery on his Instagram, featuring a video where he humorously struggled with navigating the modern new set.

“I can’t figure out where the steps are,” Seacrest joked while trying to find his balance.

“If you’re having even half as much fun watching me as I am hosting, we’re in for an amazing season,” he added in the caption.
